The Magnum Opus program and all of its support files (dictionaries, grids etc) is packaged as a zipped
archive file called MagnumOpus.zip
If your computer doesn't know how to unpack a .zip file, there are plenty of free unzip programs on the Internet. Simply Google
Free unzip program for Windows or
Free unzip program for Macintosh and choose one of the many available.
The program unzips to a single folder called MagnumOpus
which you can locate anywhere you choose on your hard drive. Inside this folder there is a file called
MagnumOpus.jar (or just MagnumOpus if
your computer has been configured to not display standard extensions.) You can start the program by double
clicking the icon associated with this file, or you can create a Shortcut which you can place on your desktop
to provide a quick and easy method of starting the program.
What if the program doesn't start?
If you have this problem, then it will most likely be caused by one of the following:-
- Your computer does not have the Java Runtime Environment installed. This can be easily remedied by visiting the
Sun Microsystems web site.
- Your .jar association has been hijacked. This is known to happen with Windows Vista, and perhaps with
Windows Xp. This problem can most easily be fixed by visiting
http://www.jonelo.de/java/jarfix/
DOs and DON'Ts.
It should be pointed out that this entire program is the work of just one person. Although I have subjected
it to a large amount of testing, I am quite confident that it will NOT be free of bugs, SO...
- DO report any bugs that you discover AND
- DO suggest any improvements or new features you would like to see to
support@crauswords.com BUT
- DON'T expect a reply! Sorry...this is unfortunate. I would love to be able to respond to every email I receive,
but I am after all just one person, and if I did that I simply wouldn't have time for further program developments.
- For the same reason, please DON'T request support. The built-in Help system should give you more than enough information
to successfully operate the program.
